The current president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has jumped onto the blogging train (the 100th Islamist Monkey, perhaps?). His first post is a (politicized) autobiography that describes the Iranian Islamic Revolution, with a strong focus on the “Great Satan’s” attempts to foil the foundling government. Religion and politics is a scary combination; it’s yet another form of totalitarianism, but one in which the citizens themselves can be fervent subscribers to the system. I’m going to follow the guy’s blog as he’s essentially the loudest voice for political Islam in the world at his point.
On tid bit from his first post is a survey on the front page asking, “Do you think that the US and Israeli intention and goal by attacking Lebanon is pulling the trigger for another world war?” At the time I responded, some 54% has answered in the affirmative. The implication is frightening, especially when analysts in the West are already calling the conflict with Iran a new Cold War.
However, despite how disturbing this man’s reasoning and propaganda are compared to even those of his predecessor, I did find one humorous line in the entry:
In order to stop the university students from joining the revolution, the traitorous shah and his clan tried to abolish Islamic belief and revolutionary motives among students, by propagating immorality, promiscuity, and perversion in universities in Iran.
Immorality? Promiscuity? Sounds like a normal college in the US
