The Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon

Our family just got a new member, Baron Von Augenbraue. He’s a Miniature Schnauzer, has an incredible disposition, gets along with Bolli, and should be a very fast learner (read: will spend less time peeing on the rug/attempting to chew through wires/eating Michelle’s clothing).

He kept us up for hours last night from his little doggie house. We’re starting to crate train him immediately so that he can get used to Michelle’s and my daily outings to work. Man, he is loud when he first realizes that he’s being left in there, unattended. Nevertheless, I have been putting him in for “hideout time” for longer and longer intervals today and have ignored his very loud, high pitched, almost-human whining, and he seems to be growing used the idea. Hopefully tonight’s sleep will be a little more successful.

Since he’s German, and has been given a German name, we’re going to speak to him in German as well. The first word, other than his name, that we’re trying to impress upon him is “sheizer.”
