Bill O’Reilly II

Another post on Monkey Fartz. Great video clip.

I’ll probably repeat this statement over and over again in this blog, but what issues this country has that require some amount of earnest political debate to solve will simply not be dealt with intelligently until both sides of the political spectrum attempt to understand each other. You don’t have to agree, you just have to communicate. Bill O’Reilly not only refuses to consider someone else’s point of view, but lambasts it in the process, and further encourages his fan base to do the same. He is definitely not alone in this either; for Christmas last year my parents got me a copy of Ann Coulter’s book How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must). What a title, and it pretty much sums up her world view. Nor is the right the only group to blaim here. Sometimes it feels like political discourse in this country, shortened to a war of sound bites and clips, can be reduced to a second grader’s argument.

“You’re stupid.”

“No, you are.”

“I said it first.”

“Did not.”

“Did too.”

“Nuh uh.”

Okay, first…you are my hero for not only posting TWO of my incredibly inane…umm…posts…but for also providing a link on your sweet blog.

I decided to seize on something you mentioned in this post…Ann Coulter. I’ve decided to take a BRIEF respite from Bill O’Reilly (although I admit to not know EXACTLY what respite really mean) and focus on Ann for a bit.

Ann both scares and arrouses me…in a strange kind of way I should probably not admit in a public forum. While I have many data points supporting the “Crazy in the head, crazy in the bed” theory…I am too concerned about what unholy offspring would emerge from our unnatural union.

So…in true 3rd grade fashion, I’ll resort to playground-esque abuse. Click on the tooting chimp for my first (and probably second to last) blog-assault on the “softer” side of conservatism.
