Of everything I’ve read about it, it’s my 3rd favorite choice, and my 2nd favorite of realistic possibilities. The first choice would have been a non-corporate name, which is unrealistic in this day and age of team’s trying to compete with Mr. Steinbrenner. The second choice would have been Met Life buying the naming rights, for obvious reasons.
But “CitiField” is a good name for a ballpark in NYC. I mean, compare it to the alternatives:
Banco Popular Park?
MinuteMaid Field?
3com Park?
Why do you think it’s lame?
Oh wait, I remember; it’s because you’re an arrogant, elitist Yankees fan.
I suppose, to be fair, the rumored $20 million or so a year the Mets will have from Citigroup could buy a couple very good players or one superstar, which may help your team win a title; just look at what A Rod has done for us in the playoffs Small price to pay for dignity.
